Our scoreboards come housed in weather tight enclosures that are very robust. They are glazed with 6mm extruded Makrolon polycarbonate, with a non-reflective coating added to prevent the glare of direct sunlight. It is extremely unlikely that you will break the glazing.
The scoreboard fascia and back panel are made using 9mm Latvian birch ply with a black phenolic finish. This is an exceptional quality plywood with great weatherproof qualities due to the phenolic coating.
Ventilation is built into the back of the scoreboard to deal with condensation. The air flow for ventilation must be considered if the scoreboard is being mounted to a wall. Our wall mounting brackets allow for a large enough air gap, but if you are putting a roller shutter over the scoreboard, you must ensure that it doesn't prevent the air flow.
The sides of the scoreboard case are manufactured from 3mm thick extruded aluminum with a matt finish. This gives a scoreboard depth of 4" (or 5" with wall mounting brackets).
We can also supply the electronics mounted to a fascia if you already have a suitable enclosure to put them in.
Our scoreboards are constructed very well, and the payoff for this is weight. The weight is around 2.5kg per square foot. Therefore, a scoreboard measuring 3 feet by 2 feet will weigh about 15kg, while a 5 by 4 feet scoreboard is around 50kg.
A scoreboard using 6 and 9 inch digits has a maximum power consumption of 3.6 amps at 13.8 V (50 watts).
A scoreboard using 13 and 16 inch digits has a maximum power consumption of 10.5 amps at 13.8 V (145 watts).
What this means is that if your scoreboard is powered from an 80 AH leisure battery, in optimal conditions you should expect it to last around 22 hours for the 50 watt scoreboard, or around 7.5 hours for the 145 watt scoreboard.
The LED’s we us in our scoreboards have a wide viewing angle of 120 degrees at full brightness. Beyond this angle the displays get gradually dimmer until about 165 degrees when the aluminium frame starts to obscures the LED’s from vision
The scoreboards are available with a range of mounting options and we will manufacture the scoreboard case to fit your requirements. If you are planning on mounting the scoreboard to a wall, we can provide wall mounting bracket for a more permanent installation or handles to hang the scoreboard up on if you are bringing the scoreboard out for every match. Threaded inserts are available if you are mounting the scoreboard between posts. There is a tripod mount available for smaller scoreboards, and trolley's are available too. Wireless handheld controllers come in a small ABS case. This offers good convenience, but they are not designed to be weather tight and should not be exposed to wet weather. The cases measures 110mm by 73mm by 26mm (4.3" by 2.9" by 1.0") and has an attached aerial measuring 93mm (3.6"). It weighs around 180g
The wireless handheld controllers have an internal rechargeable battery with a typical battery operational time of 18 hours and a wireless range of 200 meters in optimal conditions.
